1. Educational Records Review & Classroom Observations
To ensure that your student receives a thorough assessment and appropriate accommodations, modifications and/or related services, I start with a comprehensive educational file review that includes, but is not limited to, school and private assessments, progress reports, observations notes and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or 504 Plans. I will also attend the student’s school to conduct in-class observations.
2. IEP Planning
To ensure students receive IEPs that provide meaningful academic, social-emotional and/or behavioral growth, I closely collaborate with families and school staff to institute well-defined baseline measures, goals, and progress objectives that align to state standards and result in more effective classroom implementation. Additionally, I work with families and school staff to craft comprehensive accommodations and/or modifications and specific services to meet the students' unique needs.
3. Section 504 Planning
Similarly, to ensure that students receive 504 plans that provide meaningful academic, social-emotional and/or behavioral growth, I closely collaborate with families and school staff to structure personalized plans, structure an effective monitoring process, and craft comprehensive accommodations and/or modifications and specific services to meet the students' unique needs.
4. Written Communication & Documentation
Collaborate with families to establish and maintain effective communications with teachers, school specialists, and school administrators. Assist families with clear and concise written communications, as well as information documentation for their student’s ongoing progress, goals and accommodations and related services.
5. Parent Coaching
Empower families with special education knowledge, so they understand their rights and the services available to students under federal and state policy. Help families interpret assessments and school records, as well as navigate the special education system.
